A bathroom or toilet that meets the elements of aesthetics and comfort does not have to be expensive. So said the architect of Atelier Riri, Novriansyah Yakub alias Riri Yakub. According to him, the first element of a toilet is the need for a function that must be fulfilled. Other things such as ethics and the beauty of the appearance of the toilet will follow.

"The bathroom must be functional first. All the functions in the toilet can run properly," said Riri Yakub while talking to Brilli. Riri said that the sophisticated toilet system that is often found in luxury homes or elite offices is not mandatory. "For the sophistication back again in accordance with the desired needs, if the aesthetics will follow," he explained.

Riri emphasized that the properties that must be in the toilet must be adjusted to the needs of the user. For example, a children's bathroom. He strongly recommends the use of non-slip flooring materials. That can make the safety of children during activities in the bathroom is guaranteed.

"For children, they need additional materials such as non-slip floors. Mainly like that. You can use direct tile material or you can add anti-slip material," said the architect who often oversees architectural projects for several of the artist's houses.

Likewise with the bathroom that is intended for the elderly (elderly). Riri suggested that a special toilet for the elderly should be made by considering the size or area. This is to support the flexibility of the elderly when doing activities in the bathroom.

“Because there is a possibility for the elderly to use assistive devices such as canes and wheelchairs. So the scale of the building must adjust, for example from the door, the room and also assisted by the hand rail on the bathroom wall," he added.

Likewise, if the bathroom is intended for people with disabilities. According to Riri, the concept of a disabled bathroom can also be made the same as the elderly bathroom design. And if necessary, sanitary equipment, such as toilets and sinks, use sensor or contactless technology to make operation easier. "It can be very easy for them," he explained.
