THE REASON THE CLOSET NEEDS TO ALWAYS BE CLOSED

01 December 2023

Using a sitting toilet is one way to increase the aesthetic value of the bathroom. The toilet seat is of course equipped with a seat cover and lid. Unfortunately, many of us are used to not closing the toilet seat after use.

In fact, there are several reasons why the toilet seat must always be closed. One of them is safety reasons, whether for adults, children or pets.

Apart from that, what other reasons do we need to close the toilet seat after using it? Check out the explanation below.

1. Spread of bacteria

When flushing or cleaning a sitting toilet, bacteria from feces and urine waste will form. Research shows that the bacterial vapors will spread around the toilet. This means that almost every corner of the bathroom can be contaminated with toilet bacteria, including toiletries, such as toothbrushes, towels, sinks, and so on.

2. Child safety

Quoting Den Garden, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said that even toddlers or toddlers can fall into an open toilet seat with their head in first. So, if there are children at home, make sure the toilet seat is closed and the bathroom door is closed.

3. Pet safety

The bathroom is one of the places that animals like. The fresh water and strong smell really attract pets, such as dogs or cats. In fact, they often hydrate themselves in the bathroom while trying to play in the water.

If you leave the toilet sitting open, your pet could jump into the toilet or possibly consume water that contains bacteria and residual cleaning products. Ultimately, your pet could become poisoned.

4. Close the toilet, not as a backrest

Are you one of those who often relax while leaning on the toilet? If so, it's a habit to avoid. Apart from causing damage, the bacteria covering the toilet seat lid can stick to your body.

5. Falling

One of the reasons you need to close the toilet seat after use is to avoid the possibility of it falling. This often happens at night when we wake up to urinate. Moreover, if you don't turn on the light in the bathroom at night, the chances of falling or sitting in the wrong position on the toilet are greater, you know!
