How To Overcome Small Shower Water Pressure

12 July 2024

germanybrilliant.com - How To Overcome Small Shower Water Pressure | A shower is a flexible water fountain, the same as a jet washer. The water flow coming out of the shower can be adjusted large or small. Some can be converted into hot and cold water when using a water heater.

Bathing using a shower can give a special impression. Apart from relaxing, showers make bathing easier and more practical. You only need to stand under the shower without needing to collect the water in a container, such as a tub. Using a shower also doesn't take up space, so this type of shower is increasingly being used in residential buildings.

Behind its practical use, of course, showers have various problems. One of the things that happens most often is that the water comes out small or not very fast. At the beginning of the installation, the shower water may come out fast, but as time goes by, the water pressure will decrease like raindrops.

Quoting The Spruce, low shower water pressure can be caused by several things, such as:

  • Many water taps are opened or used simultaneously

  • The position of the water tower is too low

  • There is a pipe leak

  • The drain to the shower is blocked

  • The pump that pushes the water upwards is blocked

Then, how to solve it? Before repairing the shower, you need to first measure the current pressure of the shower water coming out. To do this, turn on the shower with maximum water pressure, in front of it you have placed a container to hold the water. It is best to keep the shower placed on a support pole so that measurements are more accurate. After that, record the time needed for the container to be filled with water.

Then, try turning on the shower water without any other taps being used. Collect the water in a container and record the time. If there is a difference in the previous reservoir at the same time, you need to repair the shower. Here are several methods you can try or read in full below the following link!

1. Check the water pipe

If the problem is a new shower, you need to check the condition of the water pipes in the house. The amount of dirt, scale, and mineral deposits in water pipes can cause blockages. Small shower water can also be affected by pipe diameters that are inappropriate or too small. You can replace the pipe at the same time as checking the pipe. It's best to ask for expert help so that repairs are easier and more precise.

2. Make sure there are no leaks

Next, make sure there are no leaks in the shower hose. Shower leaks are usually indicated by water flowing out of the hose when the flow is turned on. Also, make sure the flexible shower hose is installed tightly on the shower head and is not loose. After showering, return the shower to its original position. Avoid hitting the shower against the floor, wall, or other hard objects, and avoid pulling the shower hose too hard.

3. Regularly clean the shower head

As is known, piles of dirt or crust can hinder the flow of water. Not only on the pipes but also on the shower head. If you rarely clean it, it's natural that the flow of shower water at home will become smaller day by day.

To overcome this, you need to regularly clean the shower head from lumps of dirt, both in the head shower and hand shower. Clean the faucet filter if there is one, and the outside of the shower head.

4. Place the water tower higher

If the water tower is not located high enough, the shower water pressure will be weak or low. To overcome this, place the water tower at a higher place to take advantage of the force of gravity. That way, water can flow to the shower faucet optimally.

5. Use a water booster pump

If the method above has been used, but the shower water flow is still small, you should use a water booster pump or booster pump. As the name suggests, this tool can help increase low water pressure and maintain stable water pressure. This booster pump will be connected to the main water line to ensure that it supplies sufficient water pressure to all parts of the house.
