Advantages of Open Kitchen Design

1. The space for movement becomes wider

Because it doesn't have a partition, an open kitchen design can create a free and wide space for movement. You can move food to the dining table without having to move rooms or cross barriers. This kitchen concept also accustomed us to immediately put dirty dishes after eating.

2. Air circulation becomes smoother

The concept of an open kitchen is usually equipped with a window directly facing the backyard. That way, air and sunlight will enter more easily and keep the kitchen free from dampness and bad smells.

3. Can communicate with family members

There is also a kitchen which is attached to the family room. This will make it easier for those of us who are in the kitchen to communicate with family members.

4. Save the budget

Because there is no need to build a partition, sometimes the concept of an open kitchen can save quite a lot of house construction budgets.

Disadvantages of Open Kitchen Designs

1. Need regular maintenance

The biggest challenge of using an open kitchen design is that it needs to be cleaned and maintained regularly. A kitchen that is left dirty is certainly not pleasing to the eye, especially if it is integrated with the family room. Therefore, make sure the kitchen is always clean and doesn't leave trash.

2. The aroma of cooking easily spreads to other rooms

Smoke and food odors spread more easily to other rooms. For some people, this might disturb the comfort at home. To overcome this, you can use a cooker hood or a kitchen vacuum cleaner.

3. Need more storage shelves

If you still have an excess budget, making storage shelves might be considered. Place cooking utensils and cutlery on the shelves so that the kitchen looks neat and clean. Make sure everything is dry so it doesn't get moldy.
