TIPS FOR CARE FOR YOUR BATHROOM SHOWER

03 April 2024

Every building must have a bathroom. Usually, modern residential buildings already use showers. This sanitary equipment is not only an accessory or complement to the bathroom, but also to provide comfort when bathing.

When compared to a bathtub, shower maintenance is not that complicated and expensive. However, for maximum results, you need to be patient and regularly clean the bathroom shower.

Here are some tips you can do to make your bathroom shower durable and long-lasting.

How to Clean the Exterior of Shower Surfaces

  1. Dry the shower using a soft cloth so that the shower surface does not scratch. This must be done after showering to avoid water crust which is prone to sticking to stainless steel or chrome materials.

  2. Apply a special chrome cleaning fluid to the shower surface, rub with a soft cloth, and let it sit for a while until it dries.

  3. Once dry, wipe the shower surface with a soft cloth until clean. This way, the shower surface will be clean and shiny again.

How to Clean the Inside of a Shower

  1. On the inside of the shower, there are usually problems that do not only originate from the mechanical function, but the water factor also has a big influence on the function of the shower itself. For example, water contains lime which can prevent water from flowing.

  2. Then, newly built or renovated bathroom installations usually leave pipe powder and glue residue in the water pipes. For this reason, it is best to drain the water first to remove any remaining dirt that has accumulated on the inside of the pipe, then install the shower. This is done to avoid clogged showers.

  3. Clean the hand shower if there is dirt. To do this, open the flexible hose on the hand shower by turning it in opposite directions on both devices, then clean the clogged filter. Usually, this filter is located between the flexible hose and the hand shower. Then, poke the water out using a needle or toothpick to remove the dirt. Once everything is clean, run the hole through with water and rinse until clean.

  4. Next, clean the bottom of the shower faucet spout. Open the shower faucet spout using a tool, then clean the filter that is clogged with dirt and replace it. It is best to cover the spout with a cloth to prevent scratches on the surface when cleaning.

  5. Clean the control cartridge. If the control cartridge is dirty, the water flow will be blocked. Clean the control cartridge by opening the control cartridge lever or button using a wrench or wrench.

How to Deal with Shower Leaks

  1. Apart from clogged water, the most common problem with showers is leaks. This is usually caused by installation factors and the mechanical durability of the shower. In the installation function, the leak is usually located between the end of the water installation pipe which connects it to the shower connection thread. When attaching the shower thread to the pipe, use seal tape to avoid leaks, as well as the rubber seals on both threads must be in good condition and installed.

  2. Another factor that causes shower leaks is a loose or broken mixer cartridge. If this happens, open the lever that functions to open and close the water using the L key. Then, open the ring cover and turn it to the left. Usually it can be opened just by hand without tools. Tighten the mixer cartridge with a wrench or wrench, then replace the ring and lever.
