Tips for Installing Exhaust Fans in the Bathroom

07 November 2021

We all know that the bathroom is a humid place because it is often used for activities that use large amounts of water such as bathing, brushing teeth and defecating. A humid place is certainly a breeding ground for viruses, odors, bacteria and fungi that can bring disease and an unpleasant atmosphere.

To overcome this, of course we have to pay attention to the air exchange in the bathroom. Good air circulation can make the bathroom more comfortable and not humid. One way to make air circulation smooth is to install an exhaust fan that helps air circulation in the bathroom so it doesn't feel damp and smelly.

Exhaust fans can remove damp particles in the bathroom air resulting from bathing, washing, defecating or brushing teeth. The exhaust fan will suck air from the inside and throw it out so that new, fresh air can enter so that the bathroom doesn't feel stuffy and humid.

Well, because the exhaust fan function is very important for comfort when using the bathroom, but it turns out that installing it should not be careless. If you plan to install an exhaust fan in the bathroom, whether it's mounted on the ceiling or on the wall, first know the tips for installing it below!

1. Where to install the exhaust fan

The position or place of installing the exhaust fan in the bathroom is very important. Installation in the wrong place and not paying attention to wind currents will make the exhaust fan not function properly. Generally, exhaust fans are installed in two places, namely the ceiling (ceiling) and the wall.

Make sure to put the exhaust fan in the humidest location in the bathroom and also make sure the installation location is close to a clean air source so that air exchange is maximized.

2. CFM Kapasitas Capacity

If the AC has a capacity called PK. Then the exhaust fan also has its own capacity called CFM. The greater the amount of CFM, the greater the suction power of the air. Therefore, use a bathroom exhaust fan that has the right CFM capacity.

The wider and taller a room is, the greater the CFM required. Installing an exhaust with CFM that is too large in a small room such as a bathroom is certainly not efficient. On the other hand, installing an exhaust fan with a small CFM in a large room is certainly not effective because the installed exhaust fan cannot suck all the air in the bathroom.

3. Switch exhaust fan

To turn on the bathroom exhaust fan, of course you need a switch of its own. But the use of this switch will make us often forget to turn it on or off. To fix this, just parallel the exhaust fan switch with the bathroom light switch. So that when we turn off the bathroom lights, the exhaust fan will automatically turn off, and vice versa.

4. Brand

The bathroom exhaust fan is one of the electronic devices that work almost continuously. Therefore, using an exhaust fan with good quality and a trusted brand is a must because its durability is guaranteed. Of course we don't want to bother going back and forth to replace the exhaust because it breaks quickly, right?

Those are tips for installing an exhaust fan in the bathroom. With the right exhaust fan, we can get a bathroom that is free of moisture and odors. Hopefully the tips above are useful.
