DON'T MAKE YOUR MISTAKE, THESE ARE TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE CORRECT SINK

11 March 2024

The sink is a sanitary tool that must be in your bathroom or residence. With a sink, washing your hands, washing your face and brushing your teeth becomes easier. In fact, under certain conditions, the sink can also be used as a place to wash cutlery.

Not only in the bathroom, the sink can actually be placed anywhere. For example, outside the bathroom if the size doesn't allow it, in the kitchen, or in a corner of the house that is easy to reach.

However, using a sink in the bathroom has more value. Placing a sink in the bathroom can make the room more organized because it can be used as a place to store toiletries, such as toothbrushes and facial soap. Generally, sinks are also equipped with water taps, mirrors and other accessories to accommodate the needs of family members. One of them is a cabinet or storage cupboard for storing clean towels, toiletries, bathroom cleaners, and the like.

In choosing a sink, you need to be careful and thorough. It's best not to rush to buy a sink or what is commonly known as 'the important thing is there'. Because, if the sink you choose doesn't suit your bathroom, it will actually give the impression of being cramped, not durable, and costing you extra money to replace it.

So, how do you choose the right sink? Here are tips you can try!

1. Selection of the right basic materials

The main thing to pay attention to when choosing a sink is the base material or material. The right sink base material is ceramic or granite powder. Both materials are known and proven to be strong, durable and scratch resistant. It also looks attractive, hygienic and easy to maintain. For elegant results, the ceramic can be glazed or coated with matte paint.

2. Appropriate size

The size of the sink certainly varies. Choose a sink that suits your bathroom. Starting from the width and height of the sink itself. This affects the space for the bathroom and the placement of other sink fittings, such as the sink faucet, afur, and faucet stop. Don't let a mistake in placing the sink actually hinder activities in the bathroom.

3. Type and function required

Apart from size, sink types also vary. Some of the commonly used ones are sinks placed on the table (table top), sinks embedded in the table (undermount), hanging sinks, and cabinet sinks.

Choose the type of sink that suits the bathroom and family members at home. If the bathroom is large enough, you can use a table top sink or cabinet sink to add a luxurious impression to the bathroom. Cabinet sinks are generally equipped with a mirror, sink faucet, faucet stop, fixture, and the cabinet itself. Even though it requires more space, a cabinet sink is very helpful in keeping the bathroom neat and clean. This is because bathroom equipment, stock of soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste and clean towels can be placed in the cabinet so they are easy to reach if needed at any time.

If the size of the bathroom is minimalist, you can use a hanging sink. However, make sure the bathroom wall is strong enough to drill and hang a sink whose material is quite heavy. Usually, you need a drill bit of at least 10 ml to install a hanging sink.

4. Sink equipment

Generally, sinks are sold accompanied by other accessories. Two of them are water tap and afur. Some sink faucets today can use hot or cold water. However, hot and cold water taps usually use a ½ inch tap stop in the water installation. Generally, hot and cold water taps are also equipped with flexible hoses.

Afur or drain filter is an important component of a sink. Afur on the sink uses a 1 inch pipe whose exhaust output is discharged to the wall or floor, depending on the installation made. However, generally the exhaust installation is at least 1 to 1.5 inches for wall installations.

If you buy afur separately, choose one that is easy to clean. Usually, afurs that use tubes are easier to clean. You can also choose a sink with a drain hole on the side to increase the aesthetic value of the sink itself.

Apart from the water tap and afur, the sink should also be equipped with a mirror. Currently, there are sink mirrors that use LEDs and are anti-fog so there is no need to clean them again after showering, especially after a hot shower. Choose a mirror that is shatterproof and scratch resistant, OK?

5. Design suitability

The design of the sink that will be used in the bathroom is also important to pay attention to. The most commonly found sinks are square, rectangular, round and triangular. Choose a model that suits the shape of the room and the interests of family members. The color can also be adjusted to the bathroom concept to make it look harmonious and unified.

6. Availability of spare parts

Make sure the brand of sink you buy has complete spare parts so that if damage occurs at any time it can be replaced and used again. As we know, sink prices vary quite a lot, depending on the quality of the ceramic and its completeness. Don't let the unavailability of spare parts hamper your activities and cause harm to us. Most of the common problems with sinks are the appearance of fine cracks in the form of small lines that extend, both vertically and horizontally. This is known as a hairline crack.

7. Guarantee

Also make sure you buy a sink that comes with a guarantee. If there are technical problems, you can contact customer care for customer complaints. And usually, guaranteed products also provide spare parts for replacement. Of course, this will make it easier for you to use the sink.
