HOW TO CHOOSE A KITCHEN SINK AND HOW TO CARE FOR IT

09 July 2023

In a house, you must have a clean and comfortable kitchen. The part of the kitchen that needs attention is the kitchen sink.

Main function of the kitchen sink is to clean kitchen utensils and cutlery after use. However, not infrequently the kitchen sink is also used as a washing place for fruits, vegetables, and other food ingredients. So, the kitchen sink must be precise and of course requires several considerations that need to be considered.

How to Choose Kitchen Sink

1. Adjust the kitchen concept

Determine the desired design or concept in the kitchen. Supervisor (SPV) GB Sanitaryware, Sheila, said that usually there is one design in the kitchen so they have a kitchen set which consists of several parts. Starting from the layout of the stove, where to put the oven, cabinet, and kitchen sink.

“Because usually in the kitchen there is definitely one kitchen set which does only kitchen sink only, but also the layout of the stove, the layout kitchen sink, and also where to put the oven and stuff,” said Sheila.

Design kitchen sinks also need to be measured precisely so that they are eye-catching and aesthetic. In addition to size, also prepare for the exit and entry of water. Sheila suggested, for input clean water use a ½ inch pipe and for ordinary disposal use a 2.5 - 3 inch pipe.

2. Select the number of sinks according to your needs

Another aspect to consider when choosing a kitchen sink is the number of sinks.

a. One bowl / single basin

For a minimalist kitchen, you can use a kitchen sink single tub type or one bowl. Although the size is not too big, its use can still be maximized.

b. Two bowl / double basin

Then, there are types of two bowls or double basins which have two sinks. This type will make it easier for us to wash and dry dishes or groceries. However, you need to prepare a wider place because of its wide size.

C. Triple bowl / triple basin

This type of sink has 2 large basins and 1 small basin. Usually, triple basins are used in large-sized kitchens and always used.

3. Choose the right material

Currently a lot of kitchen sinks can be purchased, ranging from cheap to expensive. This of course can not be separated from the material used. Some use ceramic, composite, or stainless steel.

Each material has different durability specifications. If your family often cooks, choose a kitchen sink based on stainless steel. This material is known to be easy to treat, durable, and non-rusting. Types of stainless steel also varied. Kitchen sink GB Sanitaryware uses stainless steel with a type of SUS304 stainless steel food grade which are believed to be safe to use.

4. Determine the thickness of the sink

Apart from choosing the right material, the thickness sink must also be used correctly. Typically, sinks have an average depth that ranges from 20 to 25 cm. So, adjust the depth with the amount of furniture that is often used at one time. Choose a sink that is thick so it can hold a large load of cookware. However, the thicker the material used, the more expensive it is.

How to Care Kitchen Sink

Kitchen sink actually does not require special care, especially if using stainless steel. Sheila said, we just need to wipe it with a dry cloth after use. If stains or spots appear that are difficult to remove with water, use a special kitchen sink cleaning fluid, then rinse with liquid soap.

"Which is definitely a treatable kitchen sink that is easy,of, meaning when water spots start to appear, just wipe with a dry cloth, it must dry,of, so it doesn't leave a stain like that. If there are stains or spots that are difficult to remove, use a special cleaning fluid kitchen sink and rinse with soap," added Sheila.
