TIPS FOR CREATING ECO-FRIENDLY BATHROOM

04 July 2023

Implementing an eco-friendly lifestyle is still a trend lately. Starting from reducing the use of plastic, taking public transportation when traveling, and not turning on the house lights during the day.

In addition to doing activities that are eco-friendly, this lifestyle also began to be applied to the design of the room. One of them is in the bathroom.

If the bathroom design is not considered, the area can become a place that is not environmentally friendly. Why? Due to the wastage of water, the use of hazardous chemicals in soap, shampoo or floor cleaning liquid.

You will also feel the short-term effects, two of which are reduced electricity and water costs. Interesting or not?

Then, how do you create a bathroom eco-friendly? Here are some tips for you!

1. Do not use disposable plastic bottles

Single-use plastic bottles lead to accumulation of plastic waste. To make your bathroom eco-friendly, use recycled packaging as a place for soap or shampoo in the bathroom. You can also switch to wooden toothbrushes, body scrubbing sponges made from plant fibers, or recyclable toilet paper.

2. Use smart toilet

If not used properly, the toilet can be a source of wasted water in the bathroom. Choose a toilet that is environmentally friendly and has a water-saving feature. Also make sure the toilet is functioning properly and there are no leaking pipes.

3. Use an automatic faucet

Apart from toilets, faucets also have the potential to be a source of water wastage. For example, often the tap is kept on while we brush our teeth or wash our faces. To overcome this, you can replace the faucet at home with an automatic or sensor water faucet. Quoting webMD, using an automatic water faucet can save 8 gallons of water every day.

4. Select shower compared to the bath

Immediately switch to the shower if you want a bathroom that is eco-friendly! In addition to making bathing activities more practical, the shower has a more efficient water flow system, but still pours water fast.

5. Switch to LED lights

If you want to upgrade the quality of the house, you can use LED lights. Besides being environmentally friendly, the materials used are non-toxic so they are safe for recycling.

6. Air circulation

The bathroom needs to have adequate air circulation or ventilation. With ventilation, we don't need to turn on the lights during the day because we can rely on incoming sunlight. Ventilation also helps prevent moisture from growing, thereby inhibiting the growth of mold or bacteria.
