TIPS FOR SELECTING BATHROOM CERAMIC STYLES

12 August 2023

Choosing bathroom ceramic has challenges that are fairly difficult. The relatively small size of the ceramics and the condition of the room which tends to get wet must make us careful and thorough in choosing the right ceramics.

In addition, color selection also affects the atmosphere and mood when in the bathroom. The selected ceramic pattern also needs to be in line with the concept or design of your home so that it looks more harmonious.

So, do not be surprised if the time needed to choose ceramics is not small. Not only 1-2 days, but up to weeks to choose the right ceramic pattern. So, what needs to be considered when choosing a ceramic pattern for the bathroom?

1. Determine the budget first

Before determining the style of bathroom ceramics to be purchased, determine the budget that will be used first. This budget is useful for avoiding unnecessary costs when installing ceramics. To determine the budget, start by measuring the bathroom walls and floor first, then determine the number of tiles you want to buy.

2. Determine the style of the room

Ceramics for the bathroom are available in a wide selection of designs, patterns and colors. Choose ceramics that match the style of your bathroom or home. For example, choose geometric motifs in a modern style bathroom. If you want to be like in a hotel, choose natural mosaic-style, glossy finishes, and neutral colors. Whatever the choice, adjust it to the style of the bathroom and the concept of the house as a whole to make it look harmonious.

3. Select the size of the ceramic

In addition to various designs, patterns and colors, bathroom ceramics are also available in various sizes. As a reference, the size of tiles commonly used for bathrooms is around 20 x 20 cm or 30 x 30 cm, which is smaller than the ceramics used in the house.

4. Start from the floor and proceed to the bathroom wall

Next, choose ceramics for the bathroom floor first. Choose a pattern that doesn't have a lot of stains or patterns. Don't forget to do a slip test to find out the level of slippage. This is important to do, especially if you are building a bathroom for children and elderly parents.

Unlike floor tiles, wall ceramics can use a variety of patterns and styles so that the appearance of the bathroom is not monotonous. Floor and wall ceramics can use the same or different patterns and colors.

5. Avoid choosing more than three designs

If you want to mix and match ceramics, limit your choice of ceramics to at least no more than 3 colors so that the atmosphere in the room is not too crowded. Choosing a ceramic design is a step that should not be underestimated. If you choose the wrong one, the appearance of the bathroom will become unattractive and can reduce comfort when using it.

6. Select the shape of the tile and determine its layout

The shape of the ceramics and the specified layout are also important indicators when choosing a tile pattern for the bathroom. Maybe there are still many who still choose a square shape to make it safer. In fact, several other shapes actually make the bathroom look more attractive. For example, small hexagons, triangles, and rectangles.

Hopefully these tips can help you!
