Urinals are one of most sanitary equipment that is often found in public bathroom facilities, such as in hospitals, rest areas, schools, offices, restaurants and shopping centers. In general, these urinals are used to facilitate sanitation needs for men so that urination becomes more efficient.

The way urinals work is the same as toilets in general, only different in shape and location in the bathroom. Because they are more often used in public facilities, the urinals used must be appropriate, safe, and comfortable.

So, if it's the same as a toilet, why do you still need a urinal? The way urination works is different for men and women. If a man urinates in the toilet, his urine could splash out, causing the toilet seat to become contaminated and increasing the risk of spreading germs or infection. Not to mention, if the bathroom doesn't have a jet washer to clean it.

In addition, because it is connected directly to the water drainage channel after the watering process, the urinal will help process waste in the building. So, urinals are a wise solution for maintaining personal cleanliness and health.

Unfortunately, it seems that urinals are still not widely known by the public. In fact, this sanitation device is very functional and makes bathroom activities easier. You could say, if you don't know the ins and outs, how can you choose the right urinal?

1. The right urinal base material

There are several types of urinals which are differentiated based on the material used. Starting from ceramic, PVC, steel, to natural stone. However, the most frequently used and recommended material is ceramic. Apart from being a strong and thick material, ceramics can be glazed to make them shiny so they can add an exclusive and clean impression.

2. Size according to needs

Even though they are used by many people of varying heights, the size and installation of urinals cannot be arbitrary. Usually, the size of each urinal is different, depending on the type. There are small, large and tall urinals.

It's best to choose a urinal whose body is higher than the design so you don't need to buy additional mica to avoid water splashing out of the urinal. The water drainage system also needs attention. Usually, at the end of the pipe there is a black rubber seal measuring 1 to 1.5 inches that tapers from small to large which functions as a barrier and anti-odor.

3. Type of urinal

In general, urinals are hung or attached to the bathroom wall at an average height of 120 cm above and 50 cm below. There are two watering or flushing systems in urinals, namely manual and sensor.

Currently, multifunctional urinals are also available which come in a set with a sink. So, when rinsing, you don't need to take water from the bottom. Apart from being efficient, this is also useful for maintaining bathroom hygiene.

Wash basin urinals can also be combined with sensor taps. Usually, the faucet installation is integrated into the inside of the urinal body and there must be electrical installation inside. However, there are also sensor faucets that use batteries if the electricity supply is inadequate. That's why you need to choose the right type of urinal according to your needs.
